This was actually a design competition where Samford chose a designer as the winner! First I decided to choose the beautiful Reid Chapel on Samford’s campus as my subject. I wanted the card to have an almost hand-made feel to it. Samford has such a beautiful collection of people, I wanted the patterns of each shape to represent that. I didn’t want this design to be a cliché Christmas design, so I subtly placed the white dot above the type to represent the reason we celebrate Christmas. I was learning about letterpress at the time so I thought it would look cool to make the type look like it was letterpressed onto each card. This entire card was done in Photoshop so that I could easily alter shape and texture together. I was happy to see this card sent out to all of the new families and students that got accepted into Samford that season!
