This art piece was assigned to me by Zeta Tau Alpha at Samford University. They wanted to represent the sorority as a landmark in addition to the other historical landmarks that make up Birmingham. I created the texture of this canvas with paper-mache old road maps with a white wash. I then looked at photos of Biringham and hand-drew loose representations of them, transforming those drawings onto the map. The rest was filled in with a watered down acrylic paint. I wanted this map to be soft, quaint, and creative. It was a mess but I absolutely loved this projects as it embodies college and this city for me.
